Division of Gynecologic Oncology

Expert, compassionate care

Our team of women’s cancer experts offers the most advanced surgical and medical therapies to treat the five main types of cancer affecting a woman’s reproductive organs: cervical, ovarian, uterine, vaginal, and vulvar. As a group, they are referred to as gynecologic cancer.

The Division of Gynecologic Oncology at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center is composed of 4 specialists who provide diagnosis, consultation, and comprehensive management of gynecologic cancer including minimally invasive and robotic surgery. Chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and genetic counseling are also offered by the Cancer Center’s team of specialists. Sylvester is a lead site for the Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG), the largest cooperative group that is responsible for clinical trials and cancer research in the US.

In addition to services for cancer patients, our team also consults and treats patients with abnormal pap smears as well as provides treatment of benign neoplasms and other complex non-cancerous gynecologic conditions. Our team offers preventative and early detection services such as a dysplasia clinic for women who have had abnormal pap smears and a high risk ovarian cancer early detection clinic which provides genetic testing, counseling, and specialist consultation.
