Surgery and Chemotherapy

Surgery

If you and your physician have determined that surgery is necessary for your treatment, your physician’s secretary will contact you to provide you with the date that you will have all the required tests before surgery and with the date that your surgery will take place.

After surgery you may experience some common side effects such as:

  • Mild bleeding or staining for several weeks after surgery
  • Constipation

If you experience a high fever, heavy bleeding, problems with wound closure, or uncontrolled pain, please contact your physician’s office immediately at 305-243-2233.

Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy patients may experience some common side effects including:

  • Fatigue
  • Mild constipation

If you experience uncontrolled nausea/vomiting, uncontrolled pain or fever, please contact your physician’s office immediately at 305-243-2233.

Please note that each chemotherapy treatment is different and side effects will vary. Each patient will be counseled individually on their treatment plan. If you have any questions or concerns, please consult with your physician.
