Saleh Yasin, M.D.

Division Director

Dr. Yasin serves as vice chair of obstetrics and gynecology and the director of obstetrics and patient safety for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He has more than twenty years of experience in treating obstetric patients ranging from routine pregnancies to those with complicated medical conditions.

Gene Burkett, M.D.

Dr. Burkett is certified in obstetrics and gynecology in both England and the United States (American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology). He is a graduate of the University of London, University College of the West Indies (Mona, Jamaica), where he also completed residency training in obstetrics and gynecology. Additionally, he completed a fellowship at St. Mary’s Hospital (London, England). Dr. Burkett obtained a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine from the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. Dr. Burkett’s clinical interests include complicated medical conditions during pregnancy such as systemic lupus, hypertension, and diabetes, management of multiple pregnancies and recurrent pregnancy losses, vaginal birth after previous cesarean and treatment of pregnant women with substance abuse problems.

Freddy J. Montero, M.D.

Dr. Montero is certified in obstetrics and gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He graduated from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in 2004 and continued his training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Massachusetts General Hospital, completing an obstetrics and gynecology residency in 2008. In 2011, Dr. Montero completed fellowship training in maternal-fetal medicine at Columbia University Medical Center. He worked for three years as a maternal-fetal medicine specialist in private practice on the Gulf coast of Florida before joining UM. His clinical interests include prenatal diagnosis, management of medical complications during pregnancy, and preterm labor.
