In-office Procedures

University of Miami expert gynecologists offer minor surgeries and procedures in the comfort of our office. By offering these procedures in-office, we save our patients the risk of general anesthesia and time and cost of hospitalization.

Our OB-GYN In-Office Procedures

Colposcopy: A colposcopy may be needed when a pap test shows abnormal results.

Endometrial Ablation: This procedure is done as an alternative to a hysterectomy for women who experience abnormally heavy periods. There are different options for this procedure. When you visit your OB-GYN physician, you will have the opportunity to discuss which procedure will be the best for you.

Hysteroscopy: Hysteroscopy is a simple procedure we do in-office. During the hysteroscopy, your OB-GYN will use a camera to look inside the uterus to diagnose and treat possible abnormalities inside the uterine cavity.

IUD Insertion: An IUD, intrauterine device, is used as a form of long-term birth control and is inserted by a physician. This device is easily inserted or removed by our physician during an office visit.

Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP): This procedure is performed to cut out and extract abnormal tissues in the cervix. It is done after abnormal Pap test results that have been confirmed by colposcopy to treat cell changes in the cervix.

NEXPLANON® Insertion: NEXPLANON® is a long term form of birth control that is inserted into the arm and is over 99 percent effective at preventing pregnancy for three years.

Removal or Destruction of Condyloma: The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) causes Condyloma, or genital warts. We are able to remove and treat condyloma in-office.

Vulvar Biopsy: A biopsy is done on the vulva to diagnose lesions. It is a safe and simple procedure conducted in the comfort of our office.

Pudendal nerve blocks and trigger point injections: These are procedures that will block nerve endings that are the cause of severe pain in the genital area.
