General Gynecology

Tarek Bardawil, M.D., M.B.A.

Dr. Bardawil is certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He attended American University of Beirut School of Medicine in Beirut, Lebanon and completed residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston, MA. Dr. Bardawil specializes in management of fibroids, endometriosis, abnormal Pap smears, abnormal uterine bleeding, ovarian cysts and disorders of the vulva and vagina including labioplasty. His surgical interests include complex pelvic surgery for benign diseases, minimally invasive surgery including advanced laparoscopy, robotic and in particular single incision laparoscopic surgery, and hysteroscopic procedures including hysteroscopic myomectomy, ablation and the Essure procedure.

Ira Karmin, M.D.

Dr. Karmin is certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He completed his residency at Winthrop University Hospital in New York and later became a faculty member at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Dr Karmin was the Director of Gynecology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the Director of the Comprehensive Fibroid Center at Montefiore Medical Center in New York. He has more than 20 years of experience and specializes in alternatives to hysterectomy and minimally invasive surgery. He offers a full range of gynecologic services including Pap and HPV testing, evaluation of abnormal bleeding, and treatment for uterine fibroids.

Paul Norris, M.D.

Dr. Norris attended the Medical College of Ohio and completed residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. He specializes in contraception, treatment of fibroids, minimally invasive surgery, and office hysteroscopy and ablation. Contraceptive services are available with emphasis on patients with conditions like hypertension, diabetes, heart or kidney disease and organ failure.

Karen Tang, M.D., M.P.H.

Dr. Tang attended medical school at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Beth Israel Deaconess/Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA. She also completed a master’s in public health at Columbia University and a fellowship in advanced gynecologic endoscopy with Legacy Health System in Portland, OR. Dr. Tang specializes in minimally invasive and robotic surgery, and management of ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids and menstrual abnormalities.

Gynecologic Oncology

John P. Diaz, M.D.

Dr. Diaz obtained his medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he also completed residency training in obstetrics and gynecology. He completed fellowship training in gynecologic oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY. His clinical focus includes innovative surgical techniques in the management of cervical and ovarian cancer.

Joseph A. Lucci III, M.D.

Dr. Lucci is certified in obstetrics and gynecology and in gynecologic oncology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston (Houston, TX) and completed residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Cristus St. Joseph Hospital, also in Houston. He completed fellowship training in gynecologic oncology at University of California at Irvine (Orange, CA). Dr. Lucci specializes in treating cervical cancer.

J. Matthew Pearson, M.D.

Dr. Pearson is director of minimally invasive gynecologic surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He has served on the Medical Advisory Board for the Center for Excellence for Laparoscopic and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the Miller School of Medicine. He is an assistant professor in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology and serves as the Cancer Liaison Physician for the Commission on Cancer at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center/Jackson Memorial Hospital. He attended Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport, LA, and completed residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Texas in Houston, Lyndon B. Johnson Program. He completed fellowship training in gynecologic oncology at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. His clinical and research interests are in robotic and minimally invasive surgery for the treatment of gynecologic cancers and the training of residents and fellows in minimally invasive surgical techniques.

Samer Schuman, M.D.

Dr. Schuman is an assistant professor and associate fellowship director in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology. He graduated from the American University of Beirut School of Medicine (Beirut, Lebanon) and completed residency in obstetrics and gynecology at George Washington University (Washington, D.C.). He completed a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Schuman is certified in obstetrics and gynecology and gynecologic oncology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a member of the Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG), Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and a fellow of the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO). Dr. Schuman has a special interest in minimally invasive surgery, especially laparoendoscopic single site surgery, robotic surgery, cytoreductive surgery followed by hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC), and pelvic exenterations with urinary reconstruction for gynecologic malignancies.
